Bleeding
Kansas (1 gen 1854 anni – 1 gen 1861 anni)
Descrizione:
In 1854, the Kansas Nebraska act was passed, allowing white settlers to decide whether slavery was allowed in their new territories, opening a vast area where slavery was allowed. The anti-slavery North began a Free-Soil campaign counteracting the law, but meanwhile Southerners were flocking to Kansas to cast their pro-slavery votes. A series of deadly fights broke out between the two sides, what we now call Bleeding Kansas. Northerners strongly against the implementation of slavery in Kansas, and Southerners supported popular sovereignty. (Since the citizens of Kansas wanted slavery, Kansas should be a pro-slavery state.)
