Strategic Plan for Control of Tuberculosis in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians (1 gen 2021 anni – 1 gen 2025 anni)

Descrizione:

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians consistently have higher rates of tuberculosis than non-indigenous Australians. Torres Strait Islander peoples are also at higher risk of MDR-TB due to a shared treaty zone with Papua New Guinea's Western Province.
The goal of NTAC is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians to achieve the same 'pre-elimination' rate (1 case per 100 000 population per year) as non-Indigenous Australian-born people.
The NTAC recognizes the need for a more in-depth epidemiological analysis of tuberculosis in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. The goal of this study would be to identify modifiable factors that contribute to higher TB rates.
With these data, NTAC aims to consult with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health leaders to design effective and culturally sensitive programs specifically to further reduce TB in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
