During 1955 and 1972 occurred the First Sudanese Civil War which lasted twelve years. The conflict between the Northern and Southern regions of Sudan began slightly prior to Sudan declared being independent from Britain.
The First Sudanese Civil War occurred because during 1953 the United Kingdom and Egypt agreed that Sudan would become an independent nation for 1956. Coincidentally, on August Eighteenth, the Euatoria Corps which was mostly British soldiers from Southern Sudan attempted to dismantle a protesting crowd in Torit a small town.
The nation and forces that were included in this Proxy war includes: Central government of Sudan and the Southern Sudan Liberation Movement otherwise known as the (SSLM). As well as Great Britain, Egypt, and the Soviet Union, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Israel.
The result of the First Sudanese Civil War was estimated to be 500,000 people that unfortunately died.
