King Manasseh's reign (1 gen 687 anni a. C. – 1 gen 642 anni a. C.)
Descrizione:
Manasseh was the son of Hezekiah. He reigned for 55 years.
He was bad because he rebuilt all the idol stuff his father destroyed and served other gods and burned his son as an offering.
"For he [Manasseh] rebuilt the high places that Hezekiah his father had destroyed, and he erected altars for Baal and made an Asherah... And he built altars in the house of the Lord... And he burned his son as an offering and used fortune-telling and omens and dealt with mediums and with necromancers. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger. And the carved image of Asherah that he had made he set in the house of which the Lord said, “In this house... I will put my name forever. (2 Kings 21:3-7)
a. God let Manasseh be captured by the Assyrians. When this happened, Manasseh repented and "humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers."* Then he took away all the idols and served God.
