Alexander the Great died from disease, most likely malaria or typhoid fever. Or he could have been poised.
End: Alexander died with no heirs to the empire. Generals fought civil wars over the country and divided it.
Timely: Most powerful empire at the time. Increased interest in science.
Lasting: A current country, called North Macedonia, was named after it. Created developments in science and philosophy that shaped those subjects into what they are today.
