Life After Being a POW (6 sett 1945 anni – 2 lugl 2014 anni)

Descrizione:

Final surrender occurred September 2, 1945, but it took a few more days for Louie and his fellow POWs to receive adequate rations. September 6 began their train ride to freedom in Yokohama. It was not until October 31, 1945 after several months of hospital stay that Louie Zamperini was able to go back to his family who had never lost faith in his ability to survive. Once back home Louie faced new challenges that would test his perseverance, his ability to not let his war-time experience own him. For some time he did battle PTSD and alcoholism in an attempt to battle the demons his mind would not allow him to forget. He believed his faith in god was the reason he survived, it could be argued it was, solely, his own belief in himself that saved him, not any diety. Louie did allow his need for vengeance to control him for a time, but when he allowed himself to find forgiveness for his captors Louie found more peace. Even the strength and power it would take to find that forgiveness is a testament to Louis's power .
