Constantine (1 gen 288 anni – 1 gen 337 anni)
Descrizione:
Constantine was Roman Emperor. He was raised under the tutelage of Emperor Diocletian. Following Diocletian's death Constantius took power and then Constantine was appointed caesar in his fathers place. This position, however, was held by four people in different parts of the empire and as a result the succession to emperor of half the empire was contested. Constantine was eventually named emperor of half of the Roman Empire alongside Licinius. Licinius was unhappy with sharing power and tried to oust Constantine, but failed. Constantine then became the sole emperor.
As emperor, he made Christianity the religion of the empire. He moved the capital of the empire to Constantinople in Byzantium. Upon his death the empire was divided again for his sons.
