A Yorkist king who began to instill domestic tranquility. He defeated the Lancastrians and reconstructed the monarchy. His brother Richard III, Henry VII, and Edward worked to restore royal prestige, crush the power of the nobility, and establish order and law. He conducted foreign policy on the basis of diplomacy. England did not have to depend on Parliament for money, undercutting that source of prestige.
