Socrates (1 gen 470 anni a. C. – 1 gen 399 anni a. C.)

Descrizione:

Socrates was the first of a line of great philosophers. He is known for developing the Socratic method- a method of dialogue or debate through asking questions for the purpose of learning and critical thinking. This method had many parallels with the Sophist way of teaching which asked students to argue both sides of an argument. The concept of upholding a belief which might be immoral was controversial to the Athenians of the time. Socrates' great ideas were only later written down by future philosophers because he himself recorded nothing. He has also been written into many of Plato's, his mentee, plays.
