Darius 1 (1 gen 521 anni a. C. – 1 gen 486 anni a. C.)

Descrizione:

Darius I became the King of Kings in Persia after Cyrus the Great. He upheld the legacy of his father and went on to lead the Persians into wars of expansion and preserved the system of governance developed by Cyrus. He used the satrapies, secret police and other advisors to put down revolts such as the Ionian Revolt across the massively expanded empire. With clear control over his subjects, he started the Greco-Persian Wars in order to punish the Greeks for helping the insurrection. These battles would be continued by his successor - Xerxes I. His military legacy was recorded later by Herodotus in Histories.
