railroad strike of 1877 (14 lugl 1877 anni – 4 sett 1877 anni)
Descrizione:
the railroad strikes were caused by 10% wage cuts in the fourth year of an economic depression (the panic of 1873). This was the second wage cut in eight months while rail work was already paid poorly for the dangerous work. At the peak of the railway strike, they had more than half of the country's freight at a halt. In the end, the strike didn't accomplish much, politicians spoke of labor reforms but nothing came of it and industrialist continued to cut wages.
