Period 2: Establishing Colonial Identities 1607 - 1754 (1 gen 1607 anni – 19 feb 1614 anni)

Descrizione:

Enduring Understanding: Although Puritans left England as a result of religious persecution, they in turn created a system of theocratic oppression in the New England colonies.

New England colonies focused on trading ports, especially because they were surrounded by water. They had subsistence farming, which was the only form of farming there. In addition, New England was very religious and that extended to their government (theocracy). The Middle Colonies were known as the Bread Basket, but were more diverse in religion compared to the New England colonies. The Chesapeake Colonies were a mixture of both the Middle and Southern colonies, and their main crop was tobacco. Last but not least, the Southern colonies had cash crops of cotton and rice, which meant they had a lot of commercial value.
