European Contact in Americas (1 gen 1491 anni – 1 gen 1607 anni)
Descrizione:
Indigenous peoples developed complex societies and methods of interacting with the environment around them. These systems were disrupted and in some cases destroyed by European colonizers, whose arrival and establishment of the Columbian Exchange altered both American and European society. However, indigenous groups resisted colonization efforts, which in some cases successfully led to accommodation of indigenous culture by colonizers.
In most circumstances, English colonization was due to settling in indigenous areas and wanting to expand into more territory to create more room for settlers while Spanish colonization mostly included creating an empire that forced indigenous people to abide by their rule against their will. TLDR: English colonization involved pushing indigenous people out and Spanish colonization involved enslaving the indigenous.
