Kofun Period
(250 - 538) (1 gen 250 anni – 1 gen 538 anni)
Descrizione:
Keyhole-shaped tombs were built around the land, varying in size. Burial goods included haniwa (clay figures) and bronze mirrors. Indicative of class distinctions, as rulers and leaders were buried in these, with the more elaborate and larger ones being for more important individuals. Lots of big ones were built in present-day Nara, which may indicate that the Yamato 'capital' was there, but there were tombs all over Western Japan.
