Mike's first night is on Sunday, November 8, 1992, where he listens to pre-recorded messages from previous security guard, Phone Guy. Only a week from retirement, at the time of recording, Phone Guy is leaving the messages to help Mike, since he knows it can be a bit overwhelming. To start off, he assures Mike that he will do fine, and they should just focus on getting him through his first week. He starts off with an introductory greeting from Fazbear Entertainment, Inc. which might sound bad, but it is nothing to worry about. He does mention that the animatronics do get a tad quirky at night, but he does not blame them. If Phone Guy had to sing the same stupid songs for 20 years, and he never got a bath, he would definitely be a bit irritable at night as well. He reminds Mike that the characters hold a special place in the hearts of children, so they need to show them a little respect. He does make Mike aware of the fact that the mascots are left in a free roaming mode from 12 A.M. to 6 A.M., to prevent their servos from locking up [116], since they no longer walk around during the day. Phone Guy proceeds to casually mention The Bite of '87 and how amazing it is that a person could live without their frontal lobe. Moving on, Phone Guy gets on to the only real risk to Mike's safety, if any, is the aforementioned decade old glitch of the animatronics seeing him as a naked endoskeleton and thus resulting in his eventual death if caught. You heard this exposition like two times already, so moving on. Anyway, they do not really tell people these things when they sign up, but Phone Guy tells him the first day should be a breeze, just watch the cameras and only close the doors if absolutely necessary, to conserve power. He wishes him a good night and will chat with Mike tomorrow.

The call ends at about 2 o'clock, which is when Bonnie will begin to start moving and Mike will actually begin to look at the cameras [E19]. At around 3 A.M., Chica and maybe even Foxy potentially start to activate. Freddy does not even move around at all, casting further doubt onto the explanation about the mascot's servos locking up.
