Lord Rawdon ordered the evacuation of the fort at Ninety Six. British Lt Col Cruger's force was retreating through the fork of Edisto, Patriot Militia Capt James Ryan small company attacked the rear guard and successfully capture the supply wagons. Supplies were removed and wagons burned prior to the arrival of British reenforcements. (six possible locations for the attack, eact location unknown)
