As described by Thucydides, the Peloponnesian War can be split into three separable conflicts:The Archidamian War (431-421), the Sicilian Expedition (415-413) and the Ionian, or Decelean, War (413-404).
Assisted by Persia, Sparta is victorious and created the Peloponnesian League in response to Athenian power.
