Akkadian Period (1 gen 2334 anni a. C. – 1 gen 2154 anni a. C.)

Descrizione:

This period gets its name from the home city of its conquering founder, Sargon of Akkad. The earliest records of the Akkadian language, a Semitic language, also date to this period and were spread by the empire. Sumerian was still important for official literacy. The empire spanning the entire fertile crescent could be called the first empire. Following the collapse of the empire and the invasion of Guti from the Zagros Mountains, there was a brief dark age.
