Brigham Morris Young, the 35th child of Brigham Young and Margaret Pierce was a cross-dressing drag artist who performed under the pseudonym “Madam Pattirini”.

Madam Pattirini sang in north and central Utah venues from 1885 to the 1900’s. Some of Young’s performances were also held in the
Tabernacle at Temple Square. Morris could produce a convincing falsetto, and many in the audience did not realize that Pattirini was
indeed Brother Morris Young.

Historical accounts detail Young’s cross-dressing as strictly for public entertainment. There is no evidence supporting the idea that
Morris was a queer identifying person. He just loved the dress!

Morris Young was also one of the original founders of the Young Men’s Mutual Improvement Association, the predecessor to the current Young Men program within
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
