105,000 brave New Zealand men and women served in World War 2. 11,000 Nz casualties throughout the war. The population at the time was 1.6 million so rougly 6% of New Zealanders were serving Because of this many people were pulled from other industries creating a shortage of workers sparking the governments programme of Assisted Immigration to New Zealand.
