Model Of an Atom (Democritus) (1 gen 460 anni a. C. – 1 gen 37 anni a. C.)
Descrizione:
It was during this time period that a Greek philosopher by the name of Democritus had a new idea about the atom. he believed that matter was made up of tiny, solid, unbreakable particles which he dubbed 'atomos'.
The technology enabling him to do this was no different from the technology everyone else had at the time. It was simply a theory based on the fact that if you divided something so many times it would eventually become indivisible and unbreakable, thus pushing his theory on the atom.
As the first real knowledge we had about the atom it was quite an important discovery allowing us to continue research with the 'atomos' knowing that it was contained within matter. It was a huge discovery at the time though as it formed a large understanding of what we know now and disproved the common Greek theory that matter could be broken down forever.
