George Washington was not part of a political party. He believed that political parties would be the death of the nation. Washington set up the first actual cabinet.
Secretary of State: Thomas Jefferson
Secretary of Treasury: Alexander Hamilton
Secretary of War/Defense: Henry Knox
Attorney General: Edmund Randolph
Washington traveled to all of the states. Washington had to deal with the divides of the parties. He had to deal with the Whiskey Rebellion. He refused to deal with foreign affair including the french revolutions. When his 2 terms ended, he stepped down, refusing to rerun. In his farewell speech he advised America to not get involved with foreign affairs and to not divide into political parties.
