Mughal Empire (1 gen 1526 anni – 1 gen 1857 anni)
Descrizione:
The Mughal Empire was the third "gunpowder empire" and because of its large population of Hindu and Sikhs, although being Islamic, was much more religiously tolerant than some of its neighbors. This religious tolerance was maintained by Akbar, a leader of the empire at one point. He abolished the jizya tax (a tax on non-Muslim citizens) and created a religion called Divine Faith which claimed that all religions were true, and that Akbar was a god. This religion mostly died with Akbar himself, although his descendants continued to employ its ideas. Over time, the Mughal Empire becomes more standardized, and leader Aurangzeb eventually reinstates the Jizya tax.
