Mozart (1 gen 1756 anni – 1 gen 1791 anni)
Descrizione:
Wolfgang Amade Mozart was one of the most celebrated prodigies in the history of music, an exemplar of the Classical style, and a composer who excelled in all of the principal genres of his time. His operas are the foundation of the international repertory to this day. He mastered all the operatic traditions: opera seria, opera buffa, and Singspiel (comic opera in German with spoken dialogue). The serious and comic were beautifully fused in many of his mature operas, including the three based on Italian librettos by Lorenzo Da Ponte: Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Cosi fan tutte, as well as in the Singspiel Die Zauberflote.
Mozart composed nearly fifty symphonies, his first at age eight. The last three, written during a six-week period in the summer of 1788, are his most famous (39, 40, 41). In No. 41, known as the "Jupiter," the final movement treats five different themes in intricate counterpoint, demonstrating Mozart's compositional mastery and familiarity with Baroque music. His contributions to the concerto were also fundamental. The seventeen piano concertos he wrote during his final decade living in Vienna are closely linked to his career as a virtuoso performer.
Mozart's chamber and solo piano works were intended for private, domestic performance. A particularly important collection is the set of six quartets modeled on Haydn's Op. 33 and dedicated to the older master, who was a friend and supporter. Both of Mozart's two best-known sacred works were unfinished at the time of his death at age thirty-five: the Mass in C Minor, K. 427, and Requiem, K. 626. The personal and expressive qualities of Mozart's music, which often seem so deeply felt, point to the emerging Romantic movement and the increasing subjectivity of the artist.
