Persian wars (1 gen 485 anni a. C. – 1 gen 465 anni a. C.)

Descrizione:

The multiple occasions Persia invaded Greece. The first invasion was led by Xerxes(480 B.C.E) at the pass of Thermopylae (300 spartans). They succeeded and sacked Athens. However at the same time, a naval battle was going on which ended around the island at Salamis and resulted in a Greek victory, thus also starting the Greek Delian League and defeating the Persians for good. The Persians kept trying to gain control over Ionia as they had it in control for 50 years before hand. This was one of the few occasions the Greek city states joined alliances with each other.
