After taking North Africa the Allies began to move to southern France and pushed through Italy to knock another one of Germany's allies out of the war, and encourage Germany to shift their troops from France to Southern Europe.It was hard fight to take Italy, but in the end they partially succeeded by Mussolini's government falling and him attempting to escape to Germany.
