The siege of Yorktown, also known as the Battle of Yorktown, ended on October 19, 1781, at Yorktown, Virginia. was a victory by a combined force of the American Army and French troops troops led by General George Washington going against the army of General Lord Charles Cornwallis of the British. The battle marked the last major conclusion of the American revolution and cemented General Washingtons reputation of a great leader and a presidential candidate. French solders comprised of more than half of Washingtons forces contributed to make Lord Cornwallis surrender.
