The Harlem Renaissance was the name given to the cultural, social, and artistic explosion that took place in Harlem. The Harlem Renaissance was also known as "The Negro Movement" it was where black writers, artists, musicians, photographers, poets, and scholars traveled in order to find a place where they could freely express their talents. One of the main factors for the rise of the Harlem Renaissance was the immigration of African-Americans to the north. It changed the way people viewed African-Americans and inspired future artists, writers, and others to share their talent. One of the biggest artists Louis Armstrong made a big impact on the Harlem Renaissance. He made changes in the Jazz world, inspired and touched many artists today. Louis Armstrong said “We all do 'do, re, mi,' but you have got to find the other notes yourself.”
