the caledoans decide they're sick of magic bc they're getting sick of immigrants, so they're like 'what to do, what to do'
they've been through the whole overlords wanting to exterminate them, and they don't really feel like pulling a local blood harvest, so they instead decide that they can just ship all the magical people off to the cradle isles where no one lives anyway
except for the natives, of course, who don't want, like, 100.000 people invading their home all of a sudden
they like magic, yes, but they also like their islands like they are, they don't really want a bunch of immigrants more than the caledoans do
the caledoans decide that it's just too bad, and they go to war over it
when it becomes obvious the islanders aren't meak and obedient and have a bunch of magical tricks up their sleeve, the caledoans bite the bullet and ask the tarans for help
the tarans are more than willing to do so, but then they'll owe them a BIG favour
the caledoans are like 'yeah ok just help us, we'll do whatever u want'
they win the war, they dump the magical people on the isles, and the whole ordeal leaves strong anti-magic sentiments in the people for centuries to come
on top of that, they're now indebted to the tarans , and boy do they collect
