North Korea v South Korea
War started when North Korea invaded South Korea. The United States was unsurprisingly backing South Korea. The United States initially just tried to simply repel the invasion, but they then shifted to the reunification of the Koreas. The United States was slightly worried that the Soviet Union or China would back North Korea though. Under the UN, the united states attacked North Korea, prompting China to join the war on North Korea's side. That's about it really, China brought the troops back to the same parallel and it has been like that ever since.
