It was constructed on the orders of Emperor Hadrian during his visit to Britain. It was 73 miles long and ran from Wallsend on the River Tyne in the east to Bowness-on-Solway in the west. The impact of it was that it allowed It allowed for Roman soldiers to control the movements of people entering and exiting Roman Britain. There were stations in the center, there was a fortified gateway that enabled Roman soldiers to patrol to the north of Hadrian's Wall. It is one of the most famous places in history.
