The Puranas speak of the extensive conquests made by
Mahapadma.
The Hathigumpha inscription of Kharavela of
Kalinga refers that Mahapadma Nanda conquered
Kalinga, and bought a Jain Statue as a victory
trophy.
So he is also known as “Kallinga Jina”
