Descrizione:
Who founded the Hudson River School-Celebrating nature in all of its bounties, Thomas Cole is the founder of The Hudson River School of painting landscapes.
What kinds of people attended this school and what did their works focus on-An outgrowth of the Romantic movement, the Hudson River school was the first native school of painting in the United States; it was strongly nationalistic both in its proud celebration of the natural beauty of the American landscape and in the desire of its artists to become independent of European schools of painting.A number of women were associated with the Hudson River School. Susie M. Barstow was an avid mountain climber who painted the mountain scenery of the Catskills and the White Mountains. Eliza Pratt Greatorex was an Irish-born painter who was the second woman elected to the National Academy of Design.
