Describes the origins of the holiday of Chanukah and the Hasmonean kingdom. Likely based on primary sources of the Hasmonean revolt.

This book and three other narratives related to the Maccabees, of later date, are incorporated into some Christian biblical canons, but do not form part of any Jewish biblical canon.
