1. Mexican Revolution (1910-1920): Ended dictatorship in Mexico, replacing it with a constitutional republic. Significant revolutionaries included Emiliano Zapata and Pancho Villa.
2. World War 1 (1914-1918): Global conflict beginning in Europe, pitting the Allied Powers (France, Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan, and the United States) against the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria). Ended with the Treaty of Versailles, which set the stage for WWII.
3. League of Nations Founded (1920): Global organization of countries working together for peace, which, despite Woodrow Wilson relentlessly advocating for it, the United States declined to join.
4. Great Depression (1929-1933): Extreme worldwide economic downturn, which began in the United States.
5. Great Purge (1936-1938): Mass amounts of people seen as "enemies to the state" were arrested and killed or sent to labor camps (gulags). Millions died.
6. World War 2 (1939-1945): Global conflict beginning in Europe that pitted the Allied Powers (Britain, France, USSR, U.S., and China) against the Axis Powers (Germany, Italy, and Japan). Two main theatres: the European Theatre and the Pacific Theatre.

9. Partition of India (1947): Gained independence for India and Pakistan from Britain. The partition was bloody, but there were many peaceful protests, often led by Gandhi.
10. Cold War (1947-1991): A period of competition between capitalism, represented primarily by the U.S. and communism, represented primarily by the USSR. Led to proxy wars, such as the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
11. Korean War (1950-1953): War between North and South Korea, with foreign involvement, because it was a proxy war of the Cold War.
12. Vietnam War (1955-1975): War between the communist North Vietnam and the non-communist South Vietnam, which the U.S. became deeply involved in. Another Cold War proxy war.
13. Great Leap Forward (1958-1962): An idea from Mao Zedong to enrich the economy in China wherein peasants could not own land, and farmers were instead placed in communes. This failed, and led to economic issues and the deaths of over 20 million people.
14. Cultural Revolution in China (1966-1976): An effort by Mao Zedong to suppress capitalist influence on China by sending people to the countryside for "re-education."
15. Tiananmen Square Protests (1989): People gathered in Tiananmen Square to protest the corruption of the Communist Party, and it resulted in government troops massacring Chinese citizens.
