Democritus was a Greek philosopher that lived in the 4th-3rd century B.C.E. Knowledge he contributed to the atomic theory is that atoms are minuscule quantities of matter, cannot be destroyed, differ in size, temperature, and shape, are always moving and invisible, and are infinite. He created the first atomic model, which was just a simple sphere.
