there were actually two opium wars the first was fought in 1839-1849 and was known as the First-Anglo Chinese war in the fight an estimated 69 British soldiers died and 18,000 Chinese soldiers died as well as result from winning the War the British won trade rights with 5 ports as well as Hong Kong.

The second opium war was fought in 1856-1860 and was known as the Arrow war around 2,900 western soldiers were killed while the Chinese had estimated wounded/Killed soldiers ranging from 12,000-30,000 Britain got more trade rights as well as southern Kowloon but the western forces got extraterritorial right and trade privilges
