During the Modern period people started to question the ways of the Victroian period. The main reason for this was the first and second world war and all the horror that came with them. So the Modern period could be summarised as the complete opposite of the Victorian period. The Victorian period was regarded as a time of hypocrisy and wishful thinking for their ideas of happy endings.
