Spanish Renaissance Developments (1 gen 1450 anni – 1 gen 1600 anni)

Descrizione:

While secular music always existed, it was beginning to be written down in a manner once reserved for sacred music, as composers sought more freedom of expression, and religious turmoil made it more risky to be associated with any particular denomination (especially a non-Catholic faith). Instrumental groups were becoming less dependent on singers, and were able to develop within their own ranges and applications. Common instruments throughout this era included shawms, viols, lutes, cornettos, sackbuts, crumhorns, and a wide variety of percussive instruments. While other countries, such as England, were beginning to open up performances to the public, Spain continued to limit performances to primarily royalty and patrons of the music being performed well into the 16th century.
