Franconian Notation (1 gen 1280 anni – 1 gen 1550 anni)
Descrizione:
Franconian notation was a codified rhythmic system that remained customary through the 1500s. The rhythm must complete a perfection (which is similar to a 3 beat measure). Rhythm stops conforming so much to the Notre Dame modes, and the motet rhythmic activity from least dense to most dense is tenor, duplum, and triplum.
Values of lengths:
- Double long (2 dotted halves)
- Long (half or dotted half depending on the fullness of the perfection)
- Breve (quarter or half depending on the fullness of the perfection)
- Semibreve (one note of an eighth note triplet)
