The 13th Amendment was adopted late in 1865 and it officially abolished slavery. In 1866 the whites created laws known as the Black Codes. These were created to restrict freed Black people.
Then later on the 14th Amendment was created and ensured "equal protection".
In 1870 the 15th Amendment was adopted and this amendment made sure that all people could vote.
In 1877 the last soldiers left the South and Reconstruction and that left an impact on the Blacks lives. The blacks economi, social status and politically impact improved a little.
