Calvin's Government (2 magg 1555 anni – 27 magg 1564 anni)

Descrizione:

While in control of Geneva Calvin would preached regularly, officiated many weddings, performed many baptisms, and often gave spiritual advice. He instituted many positive policies, however his government was not without cruelty. Calvin's government punished impiety and dissent against his vision of Christianity with execution. Within his first five years of ruling Geneva, Calvin sentence 58 people to execution and exiled 76 more for their religious beliefs. The government also allowed no art other than music which could also not include instruments. Under this rule, Geneva became the center of Protestantism, sending out pastors to the rest of Europe. These actions led to the creation of Presbyterianism in Scotland, the Puritan Movement in England, and the Reformed Church in the Netherlands.
