Nicolaus Copernicus was a mathematician, physician, and astronomer. He was born in Torun, Poland in 1473 and died in 1543. He was the one who proposed that the sun was stationary and that the earth revolved around it, a heliocentric system. He died when he was seventy from a stroke, he passed soon after he published his life's work. This saved him from the wrath of religious leaders who condemned his theory on the universe and planets as heresy.
