The Baby Boomer generation had grown up with affluence and leisure time like no generation before them. By the 1960s and 1970s they were all grown up and trying to implement their ideas in society. The rising generation had ideas about "free love," equality and counterculture that resulted in rebellious lifestyles. Rising acceptance of homosexuality and premarital sex led to the sexual revolution of the 1970s. The new availability of birth-control medicine also played a part.
