The Second Industrial Wave was a continued movement in modernizing the world. It is characterized by the extensive use of railroads, the telegraph and the introduction of electrification. An increase in laborers came through immigration and was also due to women and children joining the work force. Innovations from this time include the mass production of steel, rubber, and other materials, which in turn made inventions like the bicycle and automobile possible. The Second Industrial Wave made it possible for us to be where we are today.
