Sandro Botticelli was formally named Alessandro di Mariano Filipepi, his nickname meaning “little barrel”. He was a Florentine painter well known for his works such as Birth of Venus and Primavera which are used to capture the essence of the Renaissance to the modern world. His use of naturalism was influenced by other painters of his time.
