Mao Zedong, a chairman of the Communist Party of China, declared the founding of the People's Republic of China on October 1st, 1949 at 3:00 pm in Tiananmen Square in Beijing China. This declaration had ended the civil war that had been going on between the Communist Party and the Nationalist Party that had broken out almost immediately after World War II.
