In the second industrial revolution, things started to be mass produced more than they were in the first. Steel began to be used more than iron. transportation and shipping improved. Machines were improved and therefore required less and less human labor. Electricity was also invented along with petroleum. This allowed for the invention of the internal combustion engine which is still used today.
