The Cold war was between the Soviet Union, the United States and their allies. The cold war started after the surrender of Germany and the soviet union was falling apart. The conflict of the war was to make an ideological and geopolitical influence on the world by the two powers. The United States won the cold war in 1991. The Soviet union kind of just disappeared into its component republics.
