In 1939, there was another major conflict called World War Two. It was known as The Second World War. It went from the 1st of September 1939 to the 2nd of September 1945. It lasted for 6 years. The countries involved were Germany, Italy, Japan, France, Poland, Great Britain, The Soviet Union, The United States, China and Australia. There were two sides, the Allies and the Axis. WWII much worse than WWI.

WWII was started by the German president named Adolf Hitler who invaded Poland. This caused Poland to try and get the Germans out of their land which caused a war. Then on September the 3rd, Great Britain and France declared war on Germany. This is how WWII started. Even though everyone was in war, The United States hadn't joined until December 7th 1941. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour in Hawaii on December the 7th 1941. On the 6th of August 1945, America dropped two atomic bombs on the Japanese city called Hiroshima. They also bombed the city called Nagasaki. The Japanese then bombed Pearl Harbour in Hawaii to get revenge on The United States. The living conditions after these bombs were pretty bad. The environment had gone and so many people had died.

This event is significant to Australia because they defeated Germany and it had changed history. Although 27,000 Australian soldiers died, Australia still got success and in the end there was peace.
